Brake repair in Encinitas: we measure your pads and rotors, inspect the calipers, hoses, fluid and parking brake, and show you what we find. You get a written estimate before we touch your brakes, and if they don't need work yet, we say so. Walk in at 310 Encinitas Blvd, book online or call (760) 753-1000.

Brakes wear a little every time you stop. The goal is to catch that wear while it's a pad replacement and before it becomes rotors, calipers, or a safety problem. Encinitas traffic, from Encinitas Blvd to the stop-and-go on the 101, wears brakes steadily.

We inspect the whole system, not just the pads: rotors, calipers, hoses, fluid and the parking brake. You get the measurements, a plain explanation, and a written estimate for brake repair or brake replacement before any work starts.

Signs your brakes need attention

High-pitched squeal when braking
The pad wear indicator is touching the rotor, which means the pads are getting thin.
Grinding or scraping
The pads are worn to the backing plate and are cutting into the rotors. Have it checked right away.
Pulsing in the pedal or steering wheel
Rotors with uneven thickness or deposits.
Soft or sinking pedal
Air in the lines, a fluid leak, or a master cylinder problem. This is a stop-driving symptom.
Car pulls to one side when braking
A sticking caliper, a collapsed hose, or uneven pad wear.
Brake or ABS warning light
Low brake fluid, a parking brake issue, or an ABS sensor fault.
Hot or burning smell from a wheel
A dragging caliper or a parking brake that isn't fully releasing.

How a brake job works here

  1. Inspect

We pull the wheels and measure pad thickness and rotor condition, check calipers and slides for sticking, look for leaks at the lines and hoses, and check the condition of the brake fluid.

  2. Explain and estimate

We show you what we measured. If the pads are fine, we tell you. If the rotors can stay, we tell you that too. Then you get a written estimate.

  3. You approve

Nothing is repaired without your OK.

  4. Repair

We replace or service the approved parts: pads, rotors, calipers, hardware, or fluid, depending on what the inspection found.

  5. Road test

We drive the car to check pedal feel and stopping, and to confirm there's no noise or pulling, before handing it back.

Pads, rotors and fluid

Pads are the part that wears by design. Rotors wear more slowly, but they can warp, groove or get too thin, especially if pads were run down to metal. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which is why it's on your vehicle's maintenance schedule. We check all three, so the estimate covers what the car actually needs.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need new rotors every time I replace pads?

No. We measure the rotors. If they're within spec and in good condition, they can stay. If they're too thin, scored or warped, we'll show you why they need replacing.

Is it safe to drive with grinding brakes?

Grinding usually means metal is contacting the rotor. Stopping distance can suffer and the repair grows the longer it goes. Have it checked as soon as you can.

Why is my brake pedal soft?

A soft or sinking pedal can mean air in the lines, a leak, or a master cylinder problem. Don't keep driving on it; call us.

Why is my ABS light on?

The ABS light often points to a wheel speed sensor or its wiring. We scan the system to find which one.

How often should brake fluid be changed?

Follow your vehicle's maintenance schedule. We check fluid condition during every brake inspection and tell you if it's due.
