Coastal driving is hard on a modern diesel in a way most owners don't expect. Short hops between Leucadia and the freeway rarely get the exhaust hot enough for the particulate filter to clean itself, so soot builds up, the computer asks for a regeneration it can't finish, and the truck drops into reduced power. Injectors, glow plugs, and DEF add more to watch.

How we handle diesel repairs

  1. Inspect

We pull codes from every module and read live data such as soot load, regeneration history, fuel rail pressure, boost, and injector corrections. Then we test.

  2. Explain and estimate

We walk you through the readings and give you a written estimate for the repair.

  3. You approve

    You choose what we repair.

  4. Repair

Approved work gets done, followed by any relearn or service regeneration the engine needs.

  5. Road test

We drive it under load and recheck the data.

Nothing is repaired without your OK.

If new findings come up, we call you before doing anything extra.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my diesel keep asking for a regeneration?

Usually because it isn't driven long enough at highway speed for the particulate filter to burn off soot. A sensor or EGR fault can also cause it. We check which before recommending anything.

Is limp mode safe to drive in?

It's meant to get you somewhere slowly. Drive gently to the shop if it feels safe; if not, call us and we'll arrange the nearest tow truck. Towing is billed by the tow company.

Do you work on diesel cars as well as trucks?

Yes. Pickups, vans, SUVs, and diesel cars such as Volkswagen TDI and Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC models. Call with your year, make, and engine.

Does my diesel need a smog check?

It depends on the vehicle. See our STAR smog check page or call us, and we'll tell you whether we can test it here.

What if I bring my own injectors or parts?

We can install parts you supply. Customer-supplied parts carry no warranty, parts or labor. We normally install our own high-quality parts.

How can I pay?

Cash, major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are all welcome here. Ask about current coupons.
